Pre-School Program - "Little Blessings"

There are several options offered for the 2009-2010 school year. Primarily, these will be half day programs meeting 2 to 3 days a week. Other options may be available as long as we are able to meet state standards in regard to room size and required personnel. We will be rearranging classrooms at the end of this school year to make the accommodations.
Since SCA holds to a Biblical worldview, Scriptural values and principles are taught at this level.
All learning is age appropriate, we focus on the development of social skills, gross motor skills, creative expression, and cognitive development. Biblical character qualities such as kindness, sharing, obedience, and self-control are taught and reinforced. These are the types of things most parents work on at home and appreciate seeing reinforced at SCA.
There are times of structured academics, free time, circle time, sharing and a lot of FUN!
You will be blessed to have your child be a part of our Little Blessings Program.

K-4 Program - "Mighty Little Eagles"

The primary purpose of our K-4 program is to help parents prepare their children for Kindergarten by providing extra time for the appropriate skills development.
Our program involves periods of structure, primarily when using instructional material from the A-Beka K-4 program. Students work on letter and number recognition, phonics, counting, listening skills, number concepts, as well as the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Singing, story time, snack time, crafts, learning centers, show and tell and games are employed to reinforce learning and to encourage the development of social skills.
Bible time is a very special time that helps the children apply biblical character qualities such as kindness, sharing, obedience and self control to their everyday lives and further enhances social skills. The children have a rest time where they learn to respect the needs of others as well as get refreshed themselves. Hot lunches can be purchased on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Children at SCA will enjoy learning and will get off to a great start in school. They will find love and encouragement balanced with structure and discipline.

Kindergarten Program

Students must be 5 years old by October 1st to take part in SCA's  kindergarten program. In March, those who have applied and paid the registration fee will be tested to see if they are ready for school - socially as well as academically.
We use the A-Beka program, almost exclusively, at this level. The phonics/reading program is an excellent program that enables students to read well by the end of the year. The 5 day, full day program gives more time for learning and academically engaging activities for the students.
Arithmetic involves counting, telling time and learning various math concepts. Manipulatives and visuals are frequently used to enhance learning.
Bible has a very important place in our classrooms. The children learn to apply biblical character qualities to their lives each day. Social skills development is greatly enhanced by this as they learn to share, be kind and treat each other with respect. There are verses to learn, songs to sing and fun to be had!
Our program is taught by a traditional approach to education with variation as required to meet the needs of all learners. The more "academic" material is taught in the mornings. The afternoons are spent reinforcing what was taught in the morning with games and other activities.
There are structured times as well as learning centers and free time. Kindergarten can be one of the most special memories for a child. We look to the Lord to see our program do just that, create special times that will not be forgotten.
